Denise Madrid Boyea graduated from Torrejon High School in Madrid, Spain in 1975. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico in 1979. She graduated with a Juris Doctor from UNM School of Law in May, 1983, passed the New Mexico Bar Examination in July, 1983 and was sworn into the practice of law in September, 1983. She has continuously practiced law in New Mexico since 1983.

Denise Madrid Boyea began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney, where she quickly began handling jury trials, including felony cases. She became a Senior Trial Attorney within two years. She became an associate attorney in private practice with a law firm in Carlsbad, NM from 1985 until 2001. She handled Insurance Defense cases, Criminal Defense cases, Personal Injury cases and extensive Family and Divorce cases. She became a partner within two years of joining the firm. She handled Personnel matters for her firm. In 2001 Ms. Boyea opened her own law firm. She has a thriving, successful law practice with her primary law office in Carlsbad and satellite office in Albuquerque, NM.
